Refund Policy
Every [SQUARE BRACKET] is a placeholder or a lawyer question. The refund rule below is Decided by user 2026-11-07 — pending lawyer review (PRD §10 Q4). Questions for the lawyer are in README.md.
This policy applies when paid plans are available. Questproof is run by HANALIGHT LIMITED, a company registered in New Zealand. Our online reseller, Paddle, is the Merchant of Record for all orders, so refunds are made through Paddle. [UNVERIFIED: Paddle is not set up yet (Plan 3); confirm this wording against Paddle's seller guidance.]
1. Full refund within 14 days
[Q4: Decided by user 2026-11-07 — pending lawyer review.]
- Your first payment. If you ask within 14 days of your first payment for a paid plan, we refund that payment in full. You do not need to give a reason.
- Each yearly renewal. If you ask within 14 days of a yearly renewal payment, we refund that renewal in full.
- Monthly renewals after your first payment are not refunded. You can cancel at any time, and your plan keeps working until the end of the month you have paid for.
- Charges made in error. If you were charged by mistake, we refund that charge in full. [SUGGESTED, carried over from the SousMate draft.]
The same rule applies in every country.
2. Your legal right to cancel (EU and UK)
If you are a consumer in the European Union or the United Kingdom, the law gives you a 14-day right to withdraw from an online purchase. This policy does not take that right away. [UNVERIFIED: the EU/UK statutory 14-day withdrawal right was not read at the primary source (PRD §10 Q4 cites europa.eu). LAWYER R1: how it applies to a digital service used straight away, and to UK annual auto-renewals.]
Nothing in this policy limits a right that the law where you live says cannot be limited.
3. How to ask for a refund
- In the app, open Settings → Billing → Manage billing. This opens Paddle's customer portal, where your invoices are listed. Use the refund link there [UNVERIFIED: confirm in Paddle's sandbox that the portal lists invoices and offers a way to ask for a refund], or
- use the link in your Paddle receipt email [UNVERIFIED: confirm Paddle's receipt includes this], or
- email us at [CONTACT EMAIL] with the email address you paid with.
Refunds go back to the payment method you used, through Paddle. [UNVERIFIED: how long Paddle takes to return the money.]
4. What happens after a refund
When we refund a payment in full, we cancel your subscription so that you are not charged again, your paid plan ends and your account moves to Free. Nothing is deleted, and every link you have already sent keeps working.
5. Paddle's own refund policy
Paddle has its own refund policy, which also applies to your purchase. Our promise in section 1 sits on top of it. [UNVERIFIED: Paddle's policy (https://www.paddle.com/legal/refund-policy) was read only as a search snippet on 2026-11-07, not as the full page. The snippet says Paddle may, at its discretion, refund a request made within 14 days of the transaction, lists shorter windows for some countries, and a fresh 14 days on UK annual auto-renewal. LAWYER R2: check that our promise and Paddle's policy fit together.]
